The premier couples golf tournament in the Midwest, the 20th Annual Couples Classic is being held on August 16, 17, 18, and 19, 2007. Started in 1988, the tournament attracts 500-600 players every year to scenic Thunder Hills Country Club in Peosta Iowa. The field is divided into two groups playing 36 holes of golf on Thursday and Saturday or Friday and Sunday. In addition to golf, the participants enjoy dinner with entertainment on Thursday and Friday in the new 19,000 square foot clubhouse that opened in May 2004.

The tournament uses a selective tee shot format where both the man and woman tee off with the men playing from the blue tees and ladies playing from the red tees. The couple selects the best tee shot and then alternates shots until the hole is completed. The flights are determined by dividing the number of couples by 18 with the first six places receiving gift certificates for prizes, with flight prizes as follows:

• 1st - $210
• 2nd - $145
• 3rd - $100
• 4th - $80
• 5th - $65
• 6th - $50

The tournament provides each player with a tournament gift and raffles featuring golf trips, furniture, televisions are available on Thursday, Friday and Sunday night. The Tournament committee awards a hole-in-one prize of a $1000.00 gift certificate in the Thunder Hills Golf Shop for every hole-in-one made during the tournament.

In addition to the great golf, the Couples Classic is an outstanding social event with great food and entertainment. The participants have access to all the Tri-State area attractions including boating, gambling and numerous museums and other cultural events occurring during the tournament.
